Superflat Encoder with Hollow Shaft
IncOder are contactless inductive encoders for applications demanding high precision. The encoders have proven their use in harsh environments but the design fits a number of other applications. For example a hollow shaft with limited space for a position sensor that also requires a contact-less solution. IncOder is easily installed and is available in diameters ranging from 37mm up to 300mm.
The IncOder brand grew out of the English university world and the company has been successful with their ring shaped position sensors. Easy to install they have proven their value within extreme environments such as helicopters, submarines and other applications for the military.
With a track record in the defence industry other industries have become aware of the unusual flat ring shape and today IncOder sensors can be found in robots, TV cameras, cranes and forestry machines.

The TH1 Series from Novotechnik
A new design that is making its debut at the Elmia Subcontractor Trade Show 2013 is the magnetostrictive linear position sensor of the TH1 series. This sensor represents the systematic advancement of the TMI series and further data optimization. The non-contacting sensor, which utilizes the NOVOSTRIKTIV process, is offered with measuring ranges of up to 4250 mm. It meets the protection requirements of IP67 / IP68. The permissible operating temperatures are -40° C to +185° C.
Special emphasis was placed on the safety of the internal processing of sensor values as well as on the data output at a repetition rate of 16kHz.
The advantages of conventional interfaces and bus interfaces were combined in this DyMoS interface. In addition to the positional value, it also transThemits current velocity data. The fieldbus interface is CANopen; Ethernet interfaces are being developed.

Encoder setting - on site!
Swiss-based Contelec launches encoders with on-site setting facilities.
Precision installation and adjustment of encoders, exact setting of the zero or middle point or the start and end points – these are some of the challenges facing system integrators, production plants and service personnel. Components are frequently installed in such confined spaces that mechanical adjustment of the rotary encoder is impossible or extremely difficult.
There is also frequently the need to reset angle sensors in the field in order to adjust for wear-related changes of the measured system. This should be easy and convenient to do and not require any complex aids.
For these purposes Contelec has introduced encoders which can be set on-site.
